Air Malta’s Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

At Air Malta, we recognize the multifaceted impact of our industry on the environment, as well as our significant role in the social and economic development of the communities we serve.

Areas of Commitment

Air Malta is committed to conducting all activities responsibly, making a positive difference in people’s lives and the environment. Our focus areas include:

Arts and Culture Initiatives

Air Malta actively supports the arts and culture of the Maltese Islands. We frequently serve as the official carrier for artists and performers participating in major festivals such as the European Film Awards, Valletta Baroque Festival, and Isle of MTV.

Humanitarian and Social Causes

We assist patients with special travel needs for medical treatment abroad, offering accommodations for stretcher-bound patients and specially approved housing for baby incubators on our Airbus aircraft. Our fundraising efforts support NGOs in Malta, including the Hospice Movement, Puttinu Cares, Breast Care Support Group, and Malta Community Chest Fund. Our employees also contribute through the ‘Fund For A Smile’, organizing activities for children with special needs and donating to Dar Tal-Providenza residential home.

Environmental Contributions

Air Malta aims to operate efficiently to minimize environmental impact. We continuously review operations to assess and reduce our carbon footprint and environmental indicators. Recent investments include transitioning to a more fuel-efficient Airbus fleet, introducing electric vehicles at airports, and implementing ‘paper-less’ offices. We collaborate with Airbus, the Association of European Airlines (AEA), and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to mitigate emissions and fuel consumption.

Locally, Air Malta supports environmental enhancement through tree planting initiatives. Recent efforts include contributions to the National Tree 4U campaign at Ta’ Qali National Park, Salini, Luqa St. Andrews Sports Complex, and donating 350 olive trees to Koperattiva Rurali Manikata.
