Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) committed to ensuring safe business practices

We know that our reputation for integrity and the trust Canadians have for our brands depends on the way we conduct our business, and this is reflected in our commitment to ethical sourcing and our efforts to ensure worker safety at our operations and those of our suppliers around the world.

Across our entire supply chain, Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) is committed to ensuring the safety of our workers, from the factory to the store. That’s why we were one of the founding members of the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety in 2013, and why we continue to collaborate with other brands and retailers through Nirapon to maintain the improvements that factories have implemented. Nirapon is a non-profit organization that was established to advance the common business interests of North American brands who are passionate about the safety management in their RMG factories in Bangladesh.

CTC, along with the other Nirapon members, are fully committed to monitoring safety conditions for the benefit of workers in the Bangladesh RMG to ensure they are not only safe, but that measures implemented in the factories are sustainable. A locally managed organization, Nirapon oversees the ongoing safety, training and helpline efforts of the factories from which its members source. Nirapon facilitates collaboration with its members, Bangladeshi factory owners and workers, government, labour groups and other stakeholders to build on improvements made since 2013. It is important for there to be local inspection, training and helpline services for factories to become more independent in managing safe working conditions for their workers.
