Andorra supports a “healthy and sustainable development” from multilateralism
The head of the Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot, said Wednesday before the UN General Assembly his full support for the objectives of the 2030 Agenda from “multilateralism” and stressed that there is no better way to prevent conflicts in the world than to create a “healthy and sustainable development” from prosperous nations.
Xavier Espot was released in this way before the UN General Assembly after assuming the position of head of government last May.
Espot reminded the UN that “without an improvement in people’s living conditions” any policy will not be effective and reminded the one who was Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan to remember that war is the worst thing to achieve development.
“Well, there is no better way to prevent conflicts than a healthy and balanced development, that is, sustainable development,” said the Andorran leader, who believes that this should be done from “just and prosperous nations”, but especially since an “effective multilateralism”.
For this reason, he expressed support for the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, which he summarized in poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and social inclusion.
He gave an example of the welcome in his country, in addition to Catalan as his “own language”, of three other languages, Spanish, French, English and Portuguese, the latter “increasingly significant” in his country.
Espot also advocated a fight against global warming that is a “multilateral action.”
The head of the Andorran government believes that “it is about mobilizing in favor of development and sustainability, in an essential common action of all actors in society.”
Espot was one of the last to speak in what has been the second day of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
