Toyota New Zealand’s top three award in the Annual Review of the State of CSR
Published by the Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, the review is one of the world’s largest ongoing studies of CSR trends and practices, and it stands as the only one of its kind in Australasia. Among the 240 companies surveyed, 45 were from New Zealand. The review gathers insights from employees on CSR priorities, practices, and management capabilities.
The CSR Top Three Award does not rank the companies but instead recognizes the three best in the field. Alongside Toyota New Zealand, Air New Zealand and Westpac were the other New Zealand companies honored.
Toyota New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Alistair Davis, emphasized that “business has an important role to play in society and in solving sustainability issues.” Toyota has formed several partnerships that not only add value to their operations but also contribute positively to New Zealand. According to Mr. Davis, “the most important question for us is how the organization and Toyota can add value to New Zealand.”
One of Toyota’s key partnerships is with The Parenting Place, which has been in place for over ten years, focusing on supporting families, parents, and children to make New Zealand a better society.
This philosophy also underpins Toyota Kiwi Guardians, a partnership with the Department of Conservation aimed at encouraging 6-10-year-olds to explore the natural environment, fostering a love for nature that will lead to its protection in the future.
The annual Toyota Racing Series has also made a significant impact, helping to groom a generation of drivers who have gone on to win world titles and championships, and secure positions in top factory teams worldwide.
The aim of the annual State of CSR Review is to provide companies with an analysis of key CSR trends, enabling them to make informed decisions that create positive change within their businesses and communities.
