Established on 28 September 1954 under the Cooperation Companies Ordinance 1948, Bank Rakyat has grown to become the largest Islamic cooperative bank in Malaysia, with assets totaling RM109.62 billion as of December 2019.
Since its transformation from the conventional banking system to the Shariah banking system in 2002, Bank Rakyat has consistently achieved encouraging profits. For the financial year ended December 2019, the bank reported a profit before tax and zakat amounting to RM1.79 billion.
Bank Rakyat continues to innovate with diverse customer products and facilities, covering consumer banking, commercial financing, savings and investment, and financial planning products to cater to the needs of today’s diverse spectrum of customers. The bank also expands and enhances efficient delivery channels to maintain a customer-centric approach.
