Sony Global – CSR Special Project – EYE SEE – Digital Photo
People at the temporary shopping mall looked grateful and smiled as they finally had a place to work, and children felt very happy about it. At the charity event, children enjoyed the games and entertainment prepared by the volunteers. As photographers, the children were also innocent residents of the afflicted area. Around them were always adults, gently caring for them.
Rubble, plants, small creatures—children found many things on the ground in the afflicted area. “In the future, when the town is fully reconstructed, I want to show my children how it was before. I will tell them that we had a difficult time, but we worked hard and overcame it,” said Kairi Saito (age 11) during the workshop. A teacher at Ayukawa Elementary School set up a special column on the school’s homepage to showcase children’s photos, which depict their daily lives. “I want to show Ayukawa moving towards reconstruction.” The children’s project is ongoing.
